Elizabeth & Tom

IRISH SPRING UNION LEAGUE CLUB OF CHICAGO WEDDING

Elizabeth & Tom’s city wedding day was so sweet and sentimental!

The festivities started with their rehearsal dinner at Formento’s Italian Restaurant. To say that this couple is dearly loved by their family and friends would be the understatement of the year. With her maid of honor as emcee for the evening, she introduced the toasters. 90 minutes of toasts seems like a lot. Yes, you read that correctly. 90 minutes of toasts! But each lovely tribute was better than the next.

The bride’s talented cousins sang an Irish song, but changed the lyrics to their own hilarious tune. Elizabeth played violin in the Irish band with her cousins, but sounds like she wasn’t down for all the additional labor of taking care of the band.

Sung to the tune of an old Irish song…”No, the music was not the problem. It was the chaos that Liz could not stand. With her fiddle hung over her shoulder, Liz said I am quitting the band.”

The sweetest moment of the night came when her uncle played the banjo and sang “Rainbow Connection.” Elizabeth’s dad sang that to her when she was a little girl. Her uncle, who got some banjo advice from Steve Martin, wanted to play a tribute to her dad who had passed. Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

At their Union League Club wedding, the day started with champagne pops with Liz’s bridesmaids. The priest said it best – there’s not many brides that have no sisters, but 14 bridesmaids! Liz could barely contain her excitement to see her handsome groom. In front of the wine wall, she was all smiles when she saw him.

Because it was a chilly spring day, we quickly took photos around the riverwalk before Liz had to wear Tom’s coat to keep warm. His coat featured a bright orange lining for the Bears colors.

With her very musical family, the ceremony was filled with songs sung and played by her uncle, cousins and friends. It seemed like the whole bridal party got to participate. After their first kiss, a bagpiper was there to lead them out.

Back at the Union League Club, it was time to start the party!
